George Bates 1930-2009, was an accomplished London born Vancouver artist. His unique approach to oil painting draws from both realist and impressionist styles. Originally a marine artist, George also learned to love painting Vancouver and California scenes and also the street and landscapes of Europe, particularly his homeland of England and France. Bates was a Charter Member of the Canadian Society of Marine Artists and a Senior Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. He is represented in many private and corporate collections in North America, Europe and the Far East.
